I love Marilyn Monroe and have a huge painting of her in my bathroom (see it here). What many people don't realize is that "Marilyn Monroe" was a media produced persona. Norma Jeane Baker was not only an actress by profession, but lived her everyday life in the spotlight as someone else. According to her acting coach, even her voice was fabricated. It's one of the reasons why I appreciated Michelle Williams' portrayal in "My Week With Marilyn" because of her humanistic performance.
My favorite Marilyn Monroe movie was "How to Marry a Millionaire" because Marilyn was super cute in it.
